This website aims to be a practical, trustworthy resource for domestic canary keepers. This page explains how content is created and maintained.

Who writes the content

All content is published under the name of Ayman Damak, a domestic canary keeper and breeder with 15 years of hands-on experience. Ayman is not a veterinarian. See About Ayman.

How content is created

  1. A real question. Every article starts from a question canary keepers genuinely ask — for example "why is my canary not singing?"
  2. A quick, direct answer. Articles answer the main question near the top, then explain in more depth.
  3. Practical focus. Content concentrates on everyday care, housing, food, behavior, molting and breeding — not on diagnosing or treating illness.
  4. Drafting tools. Writing and research tools, including AI assistance, may help with structure, drafting and organization. Every article is reviewed before publication, and personal experience is never generated.

How personal experience is used

Personal observations appear in clearly labelled boxes titled "From Ayman's Breeding Experience". They are written by Ayman and describe real experience. Where no genuine personal observation is relevant, no box is shown. Personal experience is not presented as scientific fact or as veterinary advice.

How external sources are used

General factual information — such as breed histories, safe and unsafe foods and typical breeding timelines — is checked against reputable sources where possible, such as veterinary hospital resources, established bird-care organizations and reference works. Sources are listed at the end of an article where they were used. Information is summarized in original wording, never copied.

Where sources disagree, especially about breed histories, the article says so rather than presenting one version as certain.

Images

Images are original photographs, public-domain works, or photographs used under Creative Commons licenses that permit reuse with attribution (CC0, CC BY, CC BY-SA). Images are never copied from search results. Every image has descriptive alternative text and is credited on the page where it appears and on the image credits page. Where no suitable photograph of the exact subject exists, a general canary photograph is used and described accurately — not presented as something it does not show.

Health information

This site is deliberately not a medical resource. Articles describe when to seek veterinary help but do not diagnose disease or recommend medication.

Reviews and updates

  • Every article shows its published date, and an updated date when it has been meaningfully revised.
  • Updated dates are changed only when content is genuinely reviewed or changed.
  • Articles are reviewed periodically, with food, breeding and housing guides prioritised.
  • External links are re-checked during reviews.
